Bastinado was founded in the autumn of 2002, following a furious pubbrawl at the Scofield Arms, involving vocalist Lord of Chaos and drummer Stopes. The idea was that if they managed to create as much energy on stage as they did in that fight, the music would be extraordinary. They were joined by freethinking bassplayer Bardolph, who actually represented Norway in the Algebra Olympiad of 1992. Bastinado has since day one proved themselves as a live band second to none. Their debut concert in the notorius Villa Molare, ended when an elite SWAT-team bashed through the doors, and the band had to spend the night behind bars. After several gigs in the Stavanger area, the punkrockers has gathered a small, but dedicated crowd of fans. Bastinado also headlined the festival “Mullah Krekar Punk Explotion”, held at Folken in the spring of 2003. Bastinado’s reputation as hardline rockers has reached far beyond Stavanger. Bjarte Olsen, ”Punk Professor” and the boss of idealistic ”Snack Ohm Tapes”, has practically begged on his knees for the rights to include some Bastinado tracks on the label's next release. You never know what can happen when Bastinado enters the stage. They live by just one rule: Never disrespect your audience! The rest is history...in the making.
